W Edinburgh is a luxury hotel and lifestyle destination located in the heart of Edinburgh. Part of the renowned W Hotels brand, it combines bold design and modern sophistication. We have been lucky to partner with the incredible marketing team to deliver a selection of hotel assets since opening in November 2023. 

 We have immersed ourselves in the brand’s global design guidelines and regularly deliver adapted assets to allow the sales and marketing team to achieve the successful promotion of rooms and events, as well as additional services such as the AWAY Spa and SUSHISAMBA Edinburgh.  

 Over and above this we have been able to flex our creative strategy and design experience across several assets that are localised or sub brands beyond the global brand guidelines. Most recently, we have designed and delivered concept driven menu’s for both João’s Place and W Lounge. 

creative solution

João’s Place is a speakeasy that has a warm and inviting São Paulo apartment-style environment. The bar brings alive a fusion of Japanese culture and celebrates the great Bossa Nova artists who flocked to Brazil in the 1980s. The menu is designed as João’s notebook, capturing his creative cocktail recipes and musings as he spends the evening in his Liberdade home. Handwritten cocktails and notes are brought alive in a brown leather-bound notebook style.

The W Lounge cocktail menu is inspired by mythical creatures from Scotland’s folklore, featuring drinks such as the ‘Water Horse’, made with Green Spot Whiskey, apple acid, honeycomb cordial, and saline, and the ‘Seal Folk,’ which includes Mint Stem Nadar Gin, lime, and aromatic bitters. The menu cover is an intricate illustration of elks, unicorns and dragons, and is brought alive with multiple coloured foils and emboss details that create
a visual allure appropriate for the mythical theme.

Another of our bespoke creative projects for W Edinburgh is the in-room ready to drink cocktails. With a Gods and Goddesses theme that ties in with the W Lounge Mythical Menu, the labels feature the Celtic God of Light, and the Celtic Goddess of Night. Bespoke illustrations were created, incorporating details that were synonymous to each character, such as stars and moons for the Goddess of Night, and a sun warrior feel with strong of beams of light for the God of Light. Each illustration also includes a subtle W mark (on his belt and on her dress). The labels were printed full colour with gold and silver foil.

The results

The hotel was recently awards four accolades at the National Hotels of the Year Scotland awards.
